Origin
No great surprise that this breed originates in China, where it was bred to be a small companion lap dog and also a hunter of rats and vermin. It’s ancestors can be traced back as far as the13th century.

Coat
The most distinguishing feature of this breed is its distinct lack of coat, although it does have long, soft hair on the head, tail and lower parts of the legs.
Build
Elegant and svelte this is a slimly built yet muscular little dog.
Characteristics
This breed is affectionate, lively, intelligent and has the added benefit of not moulting. Nevertheless, it can be prone to sunburn!
Colour
These dogs, affectionately termed ‘powder puff dogs’ owing to their often white puffs of fur, come in any colour.
